Saint Pius College where Meebara Kormaga was killed.

The Buhari Media Support Group has condemned the needless violence and killings that trailed the State and National Assembly re-run elections which held in Rivers on December 10.
The BMSG Co-ordinator, Malam Muhammad Labbo, and Secretary, Mr. Cassidy Madueke,  in a statement on Wednesday described as “despicable, the desperate approach adopted by the Peoples’ Democratic Party and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to win the elections by all means.
“While in every contest winners and losers are bound to emerge, it beats any reasonable imagination that the state governor will constitute himself into an obstacle for the successful, smooth and peaceful conduct of the re-run elections.”
The group says it takes exception to the confrontational attitude of Wike towards the Federal Government, especially in times of elections.
Wike’s support for violence before and during the elections was well known, noting that his “political trajectory is characterised by thuggery, violence and intimidation of constituted authorities”.
They said it had become imperative to remind the governor that President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to free and fair elections enabled PDP to win two out of the three senatorial seats in the just-concluded re-run elections.
Despite the mature disposition of the President, the BMSG said it was unfortunate that Wike did not deem it necessary to give peace a chance.
He said, “He is not supporting the present administration in its efforts to secure and stabilise the nation’s polity in general and Rivers State in particular.”
