Nofisat Oshin, a reporter working for the Ogun state council of Nigeria union of journalists (NUJ), has been kidnapped along with her 15-year-old daughter Afolabi by armed people in Ijebu-Ode town of the state.

The dissapearance of the victims was reported to police by their family members and confirmed by the union.

According to a statement signed by Soji Amosu, the acting chairman of NUJ, the woman and girl were kidnapped at gun point at about 8.00pm on Thursday.

They were allegedly driving in their car when were ambushed along Akobi street in Ijebu-Ode. Premium Times reports that their location remain unknown.

Mrs Oshin is the director of information with Odogbolu local government area of the state, and wife of Tokunbo Oshin, a former deputy speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly.

The union described the kidnapping as “barbaric” and urged security agencies and state government to track down the criminals and release a woman and her daughter.
