Following the partial success of the nationwide strike called by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have said Nigerians will one day need the union.

PDP in a series of tweets via the party’s official Twitter handle accused President Buhari of being a tyrant who has caged the National assembly, press and now the labour unions.

With the partial success of the planned NLC strike as only few states complied with the NLC directive,  PDP said Nigerians will beg the NLC to come to their aid when the time comes.

Also speaking about the failure of the NLC strike, Deji Adeyanju PDP’s director of new media told our reporter that the timing of the removal of subsidy is wrong but agreed that subsidy must go.
“The Nigerians who are helping Buhari to sabotage NLC today will regret tomorrow when they need NLC. Although  I have always believed in the removal of subsidy but now is a very wrong time to do it since inflation is at a record high.

The government for needs to focus on rebuilding the economy they have destroyed in the last 1yr. Allow indices to improve then they can remove subsidy when things improve,” Adeyanju said.

He added that: “It is unthinkable that a Govt that is not ready to cut cost is now removing subsidy. If we as Nigerians are subsidizing the Presidency, FG, NASS why should the government not subsidize for the poor. I support the removal of subsidy but now is not the time. Those who are helping the govt to sabotage Labour will regret it.”
