The National Secretariat of the PDP has being  re-opened today, May 31 for resumption of political activities after a week since it has been under lock and key by the Nigerian Police.

The PDP secretariat had been occupied by policemen for the past one week

In a statement released to the media by the PDP’s head of publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, the party urged party members nationwide to remain calm and continue to support the PDP in its quest to move Nigerian and democracy forward.

The PDP secretariat was sealed-off on Sunday, May 22, by the Police to maintain law and order following the aftermath of the party’s National Convention in Port Harcourt on Saturday, May 21.

Speaking on the reopening of the secretariat, the recently appointed secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Ojo Maduekwe said the Wadata House as the PDP secretariat is called, will only be opened for the party’s core staff pending the peaceful resolution of the current leadership crisis.

Madueke is billed to address members of staff tomorrow, June 1 NEC Hall in the secretariat.

There are also indications that the new National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi will assume office officially too tomorrow.

The PDP seems to have resolved its differences as the members of the PDP Concerned Group led by Senator Ibrahim Mantu had met with the Makarfi- led group at on Thursday, May 26 at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the sacked acting chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has said Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose cannot be vice president of Nigeria.

Sheriff who was removed from office by the party’s governors and replaced by the Makarfi-led committee said that all the excuses being given by the governors as reason for their plot to remove him were laughable and lack of any common sense.

He denied telling anybody that he wants to be president in 2019, adding that he could not have offered the vice presidential slot to Fayose, because he was familiar with the Ekiti state governor’s antecedents and character.
