Femi Gbajabiamila, the majority leader of the House of Representatives, has said it would be premature to assess the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as he marks his first anniversary in office.

Gbajabiamila speaking with newsmen on Thursday, May 26, said any assessment of Buhari could change in the next one or two years, ThisDay reports.

He said: “The framers of our constitution gave a term of four years to the President. You can assess someone now, and in two years, the position- would change. Let’s be patient and give the government enough time.”

According to Vanguard, the majority house leader faulted insinuations that Buhari’s government lacked an economic blueprint, saying “if anybody wants to see the blueprint of this government, let the person pick up the (2016) budget.”

He however noted that the government has ‘done remarkably well’ considering the situation when it took over power on May 29, 2015.

“We are all feeling the difficult times Nigerians are passing through; it happens all over the world. This has nothing to do with policies of government, but it has become a mantra for some people who never see anything good with the APC government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Buhari’s personal assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad on Thursday, May 26, listed some of the achievements of the president one year after assuming office.

Ahmad listed some of the achievements of the president via his Twitter handle. Sunday, May 29, will mark the 1st year anniversary of the administration of President Buhari.
