Senator Roland Owie and two other leaders of the PDP in Edo state were mobbed and harassed by youths.

Senator Roland Owie, a former Chief Whip of the Nigeria Senate, and two other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state were mobbed and harassed by youths on Friday, March 4.

The Nation reports that Owie was raised high up and lifted out of the venue of a stakeholders meeting of the party ahead of the ward congresses scheduled for Saturday, March 5.

Others harassed were Samson Esemuede and another leaders of the PDP simply identified Ijesurobo.

It took the intervention of Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, a governorship candidate, before Senator Owie was allowed entry into the meeting venue.

Iduoriyekemwen locked the door and announced that nobody would be allowed in if Owie is refused entry.

During the meeting, which started at about 6 pm, Carol Ojugboh called on the PDP leaders in the state to work together if they want to defeat Governor Adams Oshiomhole. He stressed that the governor should not be underestimated in election matters.

Speaking further, Ojugboh promised that the ward congresses would be free and fair and assured that election materials would be distributed early.

Meanwhile, the people of Esan West local government area of Edo state have challenged supporters of Oshiomhole to give them one good reason why they should give their support to him and his anointed aspirant for the governorship poll, Godwin Obaseki.

Expressing their displeasure, people said that the governor has done nothing for them anf there is no any visible impact of his administration in their area.
