Fresh reports emerging from the camp of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have it that ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Victor Umeh has nothing to do with the separatists and have revealed their sponsors.

News had emerged on Thursday, March 3, that officers of the Department of State Security (DSS) arrested the politician for allegedly sponsoring the protesters.

The APGA strong man was nabbed in Awka, the Anambra state capital from where he was taken to the DSS headquarters, Abuja and is being questioned.

But, in a press statement by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB is not being sponsored by Umeh or any Igbo politician as the group was self-sponsored.

However, in a statement made available to DAILY POST by IPOB’s Media and Publicity director, Emma Powerful, he said the group was self sponsored.

The statement sent to Daily Post on Friday, March 4 read in part: “IPOB has no sponsor anywhere around the world. It is a big organisation pursuing the restoration of Biafra; one man or few people cannot sponsor us.

“Linking Umeh or suspecting any other Igbo politician is a ploy to deny him his mandate to become a Senator.

“IPOB members sponsor themselves through monthly contributions and levies worldwide; one man lacks enough money to sponsor gigantic organization like IPOB.

“We equally state that those saying that IPOB is delaying Nnamdi Kanu’s release are lying because they don’t know how IPOB operates.”

Only yesterday, reports emerged that the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s prolonged detention is as a result of constant fights between his members, individuals and groups working for his release.

This assertion was made by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the national president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, in a chat with Vanguard.

According to Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze’s efforts in consulting with relevant stakeholders on the Biafra, has been misconstrue by IPOB.

Isiguzoro said he had received threats while his group has been labeled saboteurs by those who are supposed to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure Kanu’s release from detention.
