Buhari is set to keep his promise to Ogoni people during his Presidential campaigns as he is to wade into crude oil pollution in the land.

Mohammed and her team who arrived Port Harcourt, the state capital last night, March 3, were received by Dr Legborsi Pyagbara, the President of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP), and Celestine Akpobari, an Environmental Rights Activist and leader of Ogoni Solidarity Forum at Port Harcourt international Airport.

Commenting on the visit of the Federal Government high powered team to Ogoniland, which is the second since President Buhari came into power, Akpobari expressed confidence and optimism at the President Buhari government.

According to him, Buhari is trying to keep to the promise he made to Ogoni people during his Presidential campaigns when he was handed over the UNEP report in a high powered meeting he held with Ogoni People with former Governor Chibuike Amaechi as facilitator of the meeting.

The UNEP report was submitted to former President Goodluck Jonathan, August,2011, for implementation. While submitting the report the UNEP team had raised alarm then that the water table in Ogoniland is very cancerous containing over 900% Benzene content by the World Health Organization (WHO), standard worldwide. The report was left to gather dust in shelves in the Presidential Villa.
